Video at Pocket Prep
Part of my responsibility was to plan, create, and manage our video content. I created content pillars and produced several different kinds of videos to connect with our audience. We centered on product-related videos, study tips, testimonial content, and FAQs to create content for current and prospective app users.
What is Pocket Prep?
Pocket Prep needed an accurate and evergreen video that quickly explained the product and why it was useful. I storyboarded the video and worked with our product designer to determine the most important features to highlight. Animation work was created by Fat Happy.
This piece was used for YouTube ads, at conferences, on the website, and by affiliate partners.
App Features
The app had great features that users may not know about. We created a ‘Features Features’ video highlighting a few key tips for people using the app. This video was also featured in our welcome series to help new users get the most out of the app.
Study Tips & Tricks
As a company whose primary focus was to help people prepare for and pass challenging exams, we created a video series with the student in mind. We called this the ‘Good to Know’ series. The videos featured tips on learning, studying, and study myths and were based on our top-performing blogs. I wrote these and worked with our animation partners to develop visuals.
Testimonials
We tried two approaches for testimonials. First, we tried a more visually interesting animated approach using the illustration style of the brand. In the second, we relied on user-generated content. This was a great learning experience for the team. While we loved the look of the illustrated attempt, the user-generated content ultimately proved more successful.
The user-generated testimonials were used on our website, social channels, and as part of a B2B campaign directed at instructors and administrators.
FAQs
I turned our most popular FAQs into short videos with the help of some willing team members.
