UX Writing

I learned a lot about UX writing through my work at Pocket Prep. Every word is an opportunity. I worked on various iterations of app-related and microcopy including:

  • App Features

  • Onboarding flows

  • Toasts

  • Error Messages

  • Guided Flows

I also wrote content guidelines for many of these moments to ensure consistency, accuracy, and brand fidelity. Working with the design and engineering teams helped me gain a greater understanding of user flows and in-app behavior.

App Copy

My favorite project was updating the ‘Time of Day’ greeting that always appeared at the top of the app when a user signed in to start studying. It provides a small moment of encouragement, delight, and sometimes humor as the person begins their study journey.

There were five time segments for messages to meet and greet the user where they were.

I worked with our UX designer to update these and add more options every quarter.

There was a lot of positive feedback from users on these moments.

People mentioned liking the greetings in reviews as well as telling us in person at conferences how much they enjoyed the messages.
